This week's theme is PIES!
pot pies, shepherd's pies, pumpkin pies, pecan pies, pizza pies, non-meat pies, etc. etc. etc.
The only obvious non-vegan ingredient in typical pies is the butter or margarine in the crust. This can be easily substituted with vegan margarine. At least one of these brands can be found at most grocery stores:
Here is an easy recipe for vegan pie crust.
- Earth Balance
- Smart Balance (only the "organic" kind in green container is vegan - says 100% vegan on the top)
- Soy Garden
- Willow Run (comes in sticks and can sometimes even be found at Fiesta Grocery Store, watch out with portions b/c it is very salty)

Any chance you'll host one of your pot lucks in Houston? We need something like this down here.... maybe I should get off my butt and take the initiative. Love what you're doing!
